Bovard Studio custom designed, painted, crafted, and installed six full-figure stained glass windows for Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church in Byers, CO in 2012. The figures are painted in multiple firings to achieve depth and the architectural border provides a traditional framing element.

Our custom designed transom window for St. Leo in Demopolis, AL continues to manifest. Tina is working skillfully on the many layers of painting on the stained glass. The border pieces and textural details work harmoniously to match the style of the existing windows it emulates.
New Stained Glass Transom Window for Alabama Church
A new custom stained glass transom window of St. Leo is underway. We have selected light shades of antique glass to work for the interior setting. Gradual layers of paint will be added by hand and kiln-fired in the traditional method.
New Hires at Bovard Studio Learn the Craft
Lauren is a recent hire at Bovard Studio learning the ins and outs of stained glass. With a background in painting, she is equipped with an eye for detail in this ancient medium. About her discovering Bovard Studio she remarks, “I heard about Bovard Studio from a friend in town that mentioned there was a painting position available which caught my interest. Knowing I would be moving to town soon I went in to introduce myself, not knowing really anything about stained glass. They had me in for a ‘build test’ and I started about a month later!”. Our artists are skilled in replicating detailed painted stained glass: an essential part of restoring traditional stained glass windows. Assembling a Custom Stained Glass Window
Painted stained glass pieces for Fron Lutheran’s custom stained glass window are being assembled. The flesh pieces will be given more layers of paint as they typically require. Each layer will add depth and realism to the glass artwork.
